Video footage has surfaced capturing the moment Michael Dunlop pulled over during the Isle of Man TT Superbike race to address visor troubles.
The incident occurred during Sunday’s Isle of Man TT Superbike race, where Dunlop found himself in need of fixing his helmet.
At the time of the pit stops at the end of lap four, Dunlop was comfortably leading the race by a significant 20-second margin ahead of Milwaukee BMW rider Davey Todd. During the pit stop, Dunlop opted to have his visor replaced, a common pit stop procedure. However, the new visor was not properly installed, causing further issues for the racer.
Despite his efforts to resume the race, Dunlop reentered just in front of Todd, who had started the race 20 seconds behind him. Todd managed to overtake Dunlop for road position on lap five as he endeavored to chase after Hickman and Harrison, who had overtaken both Todd and Dunlop during the pit stops due to Todd’s own pit lane complications.
Utilizing Todd’s slipstream on lap six, Dunlop achieved the record-breaking fastest ever Superbike lap at the TT course, clocking in at an impressive speed of 135.970mph. Unfortunately, the visor mishap ultimately cost him valuable time that prevented him from reclaiming a podium position.
